Lie Detector Test

The use of the Polygraph by government agencies in the United States commenced in 1921 and slowly spread in to commercial use. By the late 1970's, commercial use of the instrument was widespread with hundreds of Polygraph companies providing their services to many thousands of organisations in all sectors of trade and industry as well as law enforcement offices and is now widely used in the UK.

Modern use of the Polygraph is generally in one of five main categories:

  • Legal Defence - some UK lawyers are now currently arranging for such tests to be carried out on their clients who have been charged with a criminal act. A number of the said tests have shown the person is innocent. We wait with baited breath to see how the evidence is proved in court and if it is willingly accepted as evidence.
  • Pre-employment screening - to verify that information provided by prospective employees is truthful.
  • Honesty Maintenance - to help employers to contain and eliminate staff theft and dishonesty.
  • Specific Examinations - to identify the perpetrators of specific incidents, such as the theft of cash, property of information, murder, rape etc.
  • To establish if a spouse or partner has committed adultery.
